Iklectic - Sonic Waterloo

My IATMJ colleague Matthew is playing at this event, which will delight and intrigue...

Piano Migrations Live Performance by Kathy Hinde & Matthew Olden
The installation becomes a site for live performance. Kathy Hinde mixes video projections of birds to create different musical patterns from their movements. She is joined by Matthew Olden, who performs with his own live sampling software "i am the mighty jungulator". Together they create a captivating performance where image becomes sound and sound becomes image through a series of transformations realised through acoustic sound, live sampling, automata and projections.
Kathy Hinde's work grows from a partnership between nature and technology expressed through audio-visual installations and performances that combine sound, sculpture, image and light. She creates work that is generative; that evolves; that can be different each time it is experienced. Kathy frequently collaborates with other practitioners and scientists and often actively involves the audience in the creative process.
She has shown work across Europe, Scandinavia, China, Pakistan, USA, Colombia, Brazil and New Zealand. She is a Cryptic associate and received an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2015 and was runner up for the Sonic Arts Award 2014.
Matthew Olden is a computer artist who makes interesting things by programming his computer. He makes a wide range of computer programs that make music, do visuals and manipulate data. Matthew then more often than not uses these programs in performance.

Matthew's practice has lead him to play in many top venues around the world, get work published, accept awards, appear on telly and get to meet various royal families. Matthew's skills make him very much sought after to build interactive installations and to lecture around different universities and colleges.

Matthew primarily programs in Max/MSP and Jitter and records under the name i am the mighty jungulator. He tries to keep an up-to-date blog, where his public can download his latest music, programs and pictures of himself.
